ON TO PARIS....HOPEFULLY!

TRAIN TO PARIS
February 21

We arrived at the London train station with, what we thought, was plenty of time to spare. However, Gerard must have looked threatening so security gave him a complete going over, everything down to the bones of his luggage pulled out and inspected. Keeping my eye on the clock, I kept peeking back at security, while they kept peering at me. The main culprits were his IPOD and a collapsible fishing pole. He was released with about (literally) 45 seconds to spare. I had gone upstairs and was standing a foot away from the train – waiting to hop on as soon as Gerard appeared. He came up the escalator, we stepped onto the train and within 15 seconds it departed..our lesson learned, we have been extra early from then on. I never complain about security.

Finding our seats was a challenge as we had boarded on the last car and our reserved compartment was many, many cars forward....Gerard settled on the first car we entered, being exhausted from the search and stress of our near miss. I went in search of our first class seats, returning and informing him they were about 8 cars forward....He was settled, no moving for him, so we settled in...even the seats we had were nice. We were on the Eurostar “Chunnel”, the train to Paris which spends about a half hour underwater. We would arrive in Paris in 3 hours.
Gerard upon his safe arrival in Paris.
